It will end up being what everyone talks about for years to come. Plus, you and your guests will have all the fabulous photos to remember the fun.

The first thing you want to consider when choosing which photo booth service to go with is your space. How much room to you have in your reception area? Traditional booths (like the ones at the mall and the State Fair) require less space and can usually be placed near the bar, in a corner, or out of the way. Traditional booths vary in size from 3ft x 3ft to much larger…if you’re short on space, speak with your photo booth vendor and talk about how much room they need. Make sure they include the room for any additional tables and props. Live photo booths (similar to a mini photo studio) usually take more space to set up—starting at 10ft x 10 ft. These types of booths do well along a wall, in a large hallway, or in a far corner.

The theme of your wedding will dictate the style of photo booth you decide on. Traditional booths offer nostalgic photo strips that everyone remembers. They are classy, elegant and everyone knows it’s a photo booth. Our traditional booths always generate two identical photo strips. Live photo booths offer a lot more variety. You can have different colored backgrounds that match your theme. Larger groups of family and friends can take their photo at the same time (plus when we’re printing your images each person can take home a copy). Because there is more room – there is more creativity
from guests in the photos.

The features that can be included with your photo booth rental will depend on your photo booth vendor. Here are the items you may want to make sure are included:

1.) Custom Album: We always include an album for the bride and groom. This is kind of like a photo sign in book. We use a duplicate photo and your guests assist in putting it together by making comments, signing, or giving newlywed advice. This album is usually the best part of the whole photo booth rental.

2.) Attendant: Having an attendant running the photo booth is very important. Inviting guests to take pictures, putting together the album, and being available for any unforeseen technical difficulty. A photo booth attendant should be dressed professionally. They should be friendly and outgoing.

3.) Photos are printed immediately. This may be a no-brainer, but a true photo booth will always print photos right on the spot. You should be able to use these photos as wedding favors and for your album.

4.) Additional features that can be included: Props (hats, glasses, boas etc), CD of all your images, custom logo to print on each photo, an exterior monitor to view what’s going on inside the booth (for the traditional style booths), having the exterior of the booth customized with your info or photos, photo strip holders, and magnets.

The best time to have your photo booth start is during the cocktail hour and run throughout the reception. This gives your guests the chance to have something to do while there is down time. If the cocktail hour and reception are too far apart – then having it running during the reception works great. Speak with your photo booth vendor to get the best time to start the photo booth. Typically the photo booth is set up early and the attendant comes at the appointed time to get it started. We don’t think you should be charged for this “waiting” time. Check to make sure you only pay for the running time of the booth.

The most memorable day of your life should include as many photos as possible. A photo booth is a great way for you to see how your guests enjoyed your wedding day.

For more tips, ideas, or to get pricing. The weather was wonderful. The lake looked fabulous. And the Castle was all decked out...yeah that's right...I was at a Castle. Although not your typical cold, damp and clammy kinda castle. This one was opulent, gorgeous, and a perfect venue for Laura and Mark's wedding. I was busy with the Photobooth throughout the entire wedding...otherwise I would have snapped a few shots of the decor, venue and overall awesomeness.
These are the few of the photobooth pictures...it was such a fun night!

The catering was provided by Thornager's on Kiltie Lane - Tim was in charge and he did a fabulous job! The catering staff and chef were so professional and efficient. I get to work with them again on November 11, 2011. I'll be back in Flagstaff for Emily & Joe's wedding.
Michael and Tara with Missing Frame Photography did the wedding photography - I can't wait to see the photos they post online!
But most (if not all) of the credit goes to Kim Duncan with KD Event Designs 928-863-0293. I was thrilled for a chance to work with Kim. Everything looked so amazing and she was great to work with. It's too bad the photobooth was so busy and I didn't get any of the decoratin photos...But I know that Michael got a bunch of good ones. And I can't complain too much - Laura and Mark's photobooth album turned out great.

It was a great wedding all around. Although I agree with the character Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert from Disney's Tangled "I could get used to this....yep, I'm already used to it". The Castle was amazing...

If you could get married at a Castle - would you??

<georss:box>35.1424571 -111.740418 35.2602461 -111.53808000000001</georss:box>

Life

For many school has or is starting. I am even going back for another photography class! It has been a crazy summer. One would have thought that with a "slower" season we would have time to get some blogging done. Wrong!!! We have done a lot this summer with our Facebook page, trying to be social, http://www.facebook.com/A2ZPhotoBooths#! Thanks to all of you who are our fans! We did order some new booths! they have some cool new features we can offer. Unfortunately when they arrived they were damaged and we had to refuse them. This time we were there for Ashley and Mark. Congratulations guys! We started the photo booth at the cocktail hour in the Chianciano hall and then moved the booth over by the Firenze Ballroom. The guests loved having it there! The guests enjoyed all the props we provided, I even had to chase a couple down to get them back.
Here are a few pictures I took of their gorgeous wedding!

For some it is all about the props.

Amazing wedding dress!

Gorgeous!

Flowers were done by Blume.

I love this picture of the cake! I can't even begin to describe how fabulous Kiley & Daniel's wedding reception was. The decorations were fabulous. The food was amazing. With the reception outside in the courtyard, we set up along one side. Instead of a typical memory album - Kiley's mom made a memory board for the guests to add their photos and comments to. border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">When it's your 10 year wedding anniversary. And you get out your wedding album and sign-in book to nostalgically look back, are you going to have signatures on paper? Or will you have photos of your guests with congratulations, advice, and fun comments?

I've been asked a few times "What's the best part about having a photo booth?" I think I could answer that easily. The best part is the Album.

I want you to remember your wedding day and especially remember how much fun it was. When we create a wedding album for you (the bride and groom) we make sure that your guests have an opportunity to sign the album next to their photo. (and they get to take a duplicate photo home) I go out of my way to invite each of your guests to come and take photos in the photo booth (rarely are they reluctant to get in and most of the time they come back with more guests).

I could go on all day about how much I like the album. However these recent testimonials pretty much sum it all up:

"Thanks so much. We love our guest book! It was just what we wanted." Kristin S.

"We really appreciated the extra length you went to make sure we had a great album despite the small number of guests we had. You are awesome! Thanks!" Sara N.

"The photo booth was a fun addition to our wedding. The sign in book is super creative and a fun way to remember all of our guests." Carrie M.

"The Photo Station was a lot of fun, and receiving the guest book with all the pictures that night allowed us to read it before we left on our honeymoon. We would recommend A2Z PhotoBooth and their staff to anyone planning a wedding. Thanks for all the fun!" Michael B.

If I had it to do over again - I wish I'd of had a photo booth at my wedding. As it is, I only have signatures on paper when I get out our wedding album...I'll be getting it out on June 19th - our 13th wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been 13 years. If feels like it was just last summer.

Time has flown...

I guess we have been having a ton of fun. We, the class, had no idea what the project was. Teacher showed up 20 minutes late, gave us the project with little explanation and then disappeared. So here are 25 students walking Mill taking pictures of random things, because none of us are sure what we are suppossed to be doing. Funny thing about it is that no one on Mill questioned what we were doing, guess it must be a common thing to have happen.
I did see some cool places to take some pictures for engagements, maybe I can get Jill down there and try it out. Played around with the camera settings, so now I need to download them and see what looks good.

Valentine's Day!

It is just a few days away....and the rumor is that there is something special coming! Surely everyone in the world has interesting things to talk about...right? well - I'm trying.

So today's topic: making friends with your vendors - (also known as) - knowing your vendors

There are some vendors that you needn't be best friends with - the florist, linens, decor people usually set up and leave. Even the cake lady is usually in and out. Their personality isn't something you have to deal with on the day of your wedding. (although they are probably very nice people and you would totally send them a Christmas card because you love them so much) Even the lady who sold you your wedding dress...she is not likely to be at your wedding...walking around and talking with you or your guests.

However, your DJ and Photographer are two very important vendors. Not only are they interacting with your guests...they are there for you.

Choosing a photographer and DJ should be an emotional decision. You need to LIKE them.

Yes, REALLY LIKE THEM!

If for any reason your DJ weirds you out...then chances are your guests will feel the same way.
If you and your photographer don't get along...then how do you imagine your pictures will look?

I would venture to state that the importance of meeting and knowing your photographer should be on the top of your To Do List. You should know her and feel comfortable with her. You should trust her judgment and feel no stress or worry about what your images will look like. She should make you feel amazing, beautiful, romantic and relaxed. You should be comfortable with her behind the camera.

Have you been to a boring wedding before? Were your friends boring people? Did the bride and groom intentionally tell everyone there that the reception would be dumb? Or was the DJ not quite up to par?
We've been to lots of weddings (lots and lots) - the difference between a boring wedding reception and an amazing wedding reception is all about the DJ. Meet with your DJ - ask to see video footage of him in action. You'll feel a whole lot better choosing someone that you LIKE and feel comfortable with then simply going with the first guy at the right price.

I know that budget is of the utmost importance while planning your wedding. But your budget shouldn't limit you to vendors that you don't like. Not only should you like them at their price. You should like them because you know them and trust them.

Bridal Show Winners - Photography & Photobooths

The bridal show in Northern Arizona was amazing! Worked on our first actual photo assignment today. I had to lay on the ground for 5 minutes and then take pictures to illustrate what I thought and to cover the five senses. I still need to go through the pictures but it was interesting. Definitely makes you think about pictures from different points of views. I'll put them up when I have them done.

First Photo Booth Contest of 2011

First Photo Booth Contest of 2011!

That’s right we are having a contest, a “best photo booth” picture contest. The answer is simple...how many do you want to try and get in. While the booth are designed to easily fit 2-4 people we can always do more. So far the record is 11. That's right 11. Now please realize that once you get more than four in the booth we are only talking "parts" of people. Here are a few pictures of what it looks like to get 11 people in the booth.

Sand Ceremony

Ok..so you have planned everything to perfection, and it is going that way. The vendors are all set, the guests are there on time, the weather is beautiful, it is the day you dreamed of. You perform the sand ceremony, making a gorgeous mix of colors. Everything goes as planned for your wedding, not a single hitch, except you and your new spouse.
Now it is a few days later. You are opening gifts when you remember your vase of sand. You find it, but not the way you had planned. Somehow it fell over and now the sand is all mixed up. The moment and memory that it was supposed to represent ruined.
Yes this happens, unfortunately. Well, I came across something and wanted to share it with you. It is called the Forever Frame. This unique sand "vase" actually is designed to keep the sand in place. It also allows your guests to add a memento at your wedding, and you get to put a picture of you in the frame. How cool is that!

This is pretty new, but spreading like wildfire. I guess because it is such a great idea.

Look what we found!

Playing aound the computer today I found this blog about one of the weddings we did. I found it first on Facebook, it was posted there by Blackstone Country Club. It was originally put on Wedingwire so go check it out!

Wedding Wire Blog

Past Events

We have a number of events that we still need to blog. Unfortunately, with updating computers, we have not been able to get the pictures to share. That being said, I did want to go ahead and mention some of the great events we have done.
We were out at the Waterfront in Tempe for Sarah and Shaun. It was a great time. The DJ kept everyone dancing and the party moving. The photographers never got a break from all that was going on. I was lucky enough to be right by the chocolate fountain. Let's just say I visited it a few times.
Next, we were, once again, privileged to be at McCormick Ranch for a gorgeous wedding. Our friends from Thee Wedding Warehouse did an AMAZING job with everything. We also had the privilege to work with a great friend and DJ, Ray the DJ. The evening was topped off with a fabulous fireworks show.
Jill took our Live Photo Booth out to Boojum Tree for a wedding a while back. It was a great choice for this event. There were so many fabulous backdrops for her to set it against. I know that the guests loved being able to take large group pictures.
Finally, for this post, I was out at the Phoenix Zoo for a wedding, with a traditional booth. There must have been an inside joke, all the seating cards were lemons. Yes real lemons with the name of the guest and table on them. The tables were named after places the bride and groom had been, with pictures of them while they were there. It was a great idea. We had the props out for this one and everyone loved it!
We have been to some amazing places, and continue to be amazed at what can be done. It is great working with so many quality professionals.

How to get great wedding photos….things to ask your photographer.

So, I’ve been thinking about good wedding photos versus bad ones. (Hopefully not that many wedding photos turn out really “bad”.) But I wanted to give some hints and ideas on how to get the best wedding photos possible. There are 3 things you want to keep in mind with wedding photos – it would be a good idea to discuss these with your photographer

1. Time of day & weather

2. Indoors or Outdoors

3. Posed Pictures vs. Natural Looking

Wedding photography is all about light. How much is too much? how much is just enough?

The time of day is so important to your photographer. If it’s sunset or early morning – you may be able to get some really good lighting. The sun is out, but it’s not so bright to make you squint. Fill-in flash is very important for middle of the day photos. This way, if there are shadows or darker sections on your face – this little bit of flash can fill those in with a soft natural look. A reflector can also work – but sometimes this makes for squinty face photos.

Weather will always be a concern…Too much sun makes for shadows on faces. You’ll notice that shady areas are nice photo locations during full sun. Rain obviously doesn’t work for outdoor weddings and makes lighting a little more difficult for indoors (not as much ambient light). Gentle overcast actually makes for great lighting outside.

Indoor lighting and photos will depend largely on available light and whatever flash equipment your photographer brings. A good photographer will take advantage of lighting and incorporate that for fabulous photos. Flash is usually necessary indoors…but again, soft fill-flash. Keep in mind that sometimes the best pictures are those without a lot of light.

Remember the family portraits photos where someone is blinking? Those posed shots have their place…but now a day, nothing beats the natural looking & relaxed photograph. Now don’t get me wrong – I want the family photos! I want to have everyone smiling. But not EVERY photo has to be that way. It’s so nice to catch a tearful embrace, laughter, and the bride and groom looking into each other’s eyes…moments like these are brief, but if caught by your photographer…you will love them forever.

Discuss with your photographer what type of photos she specialized in. Tell her some of your expectations. Let her know if you enjoy more natural looking photos or if you want her to direct you, pose you, and otherwise tell you what to do. Sometimes it’s hard to act naturally when a camera is going off in your face for hours. But if you can be patient with your photographer…and discuss with her what you are expecting. You’re sure to get some amazing wedding photos.

Where did the summer go?

Has it really been all summer since the last post? This time were there to celebrate with Lyndsey and Hugh. We were set up on the patio for the guests to enjoy during the cocktail hour. We had a line as soon as the guests arrived from the ceremony, which was held on site. When the party moved inside there were many of the guests that preferred to frequent the photo booth instead. Ed from Ray the DJ did his best to keep them inside, but the booth was much more fun. There was a group of girls that ma have enjoyed the booth a little too much. It was a great party. The bride and groom took great care to make sure their guests had a good time. Even as we were finishing up with the photo booth, the party still going strong, they had pizza brought out to keep the energy going and guest full. Something of a late night snack.

What happens in the booth stays in the booth.

(Of course they talked about it and everyone knew)

We even got the photographer to come out from behind the camera--well sort of!

Thanks guys for an amazing time. We have seen everything from prom dresses to biker gear on various guests, and well we are usualy wearing black and white.

So what do you wear as a guest at a wedding? Being under dressed is awkward and overdressing is just plan uncomfortable. So how do you decide what is appropriate for the wedding you have been invited to attend?

If you receive an invitation with lace and calligraphy that usually indicates that you should take the extra time to match your shoes to your outfit and add a little makeup. For most events you will not be able to reuse your prom dress or other brides maids dresses no matter how fancy the invitation looks.

The new and convenient way to send out invites is on Facebook. Lots of people do it and it is cheap and easy. You won't usually have to go out of your way to dress up for these kinds of celebrations. Taking a brush through your hair and making sure there is no unmentionables (dirt, spit-up, food and wrinkles) on you blouse will suffice. Just remember it is a wedding reception and you shouldn't roll out of bed and walk into the party.

There are also the photo shop masterpieces that have pictures, text and swirly graphics. These invites are adorable, personal and slightly confusing! Mostly because happy couples are usually in a grassy area in jeans and t-shirts looking all "In Love." But that tells you nothing about how you should dress because you can be sure the bride and groom sure won't be sporting jeans! So what do you do? When in doubt go simple yet classy. Black pants and a nice blouse or a nice dress will get you through any event unscathed.

If you are male or are trying to dress a male so he looks appropriate; (Good Luck!) Remember that most men look good in black slacks and a button up shirt, no tie. It's a fact that simple is always better for men, but make sure that he leaves his jeans, work boots, and holey t-shirt at home.

Just remember not to go overboard! You don't want to out dazzle the bride. (At least not on her special day!)

Oh & BTW sometimes the brides are super smart and well prepared, they put the recommended attire right on the invite!

And if all else fails call the bride or someone in the bridal party. It never hurts to ask!

~Mari~

Wedding at Different Pointe of View

Sometimes when you love a certain sports team you wear their colors to show your support. Traditional weddings don't usually incorporate team colors, but Michael didn't let tradition stop him from showing his love for the Phoenix Suns. The Groom and his grooms men showed a little support with orange and white striped socks. It was a big surprise to the bride, but I think she knew what she was getting herself into when she agreed to marry him.

If you have never been to Different Pointe of View, you might want to check it out. The view from the top, made me almost want to take up hiking. (Almost) The Happy couple celebrated their new voes at the top, first with a cocktail hour and then the real party started.

Guests sipped cocktails and looked out over the valley and took a few pictures in the photo booth. The light breeze made the afternoon almost perfect. As the Sun set the guests moved inside for dinner, dancing and the traditional wedding activities.

But the guest didn't forget little ol me and the photo booth. Ever chance they got they were sneaking out of the ball room to make a few more memories, not just for themselves but for the bride and groom in the guest book.

Especially when the fire pits were lit and the makings for s'mores were set out. The kids swarmed and soon the sweet smell of marshmallows was wofting threw the air. Once the kids had their fill or were dragged away by their parents, the grandparents and older guest ventured out of the main hall to get some fresh air. The cuteist thing I have ever seen is an older couple trying to be dainty while chowing down on s'mores!

~Mari~
